You're the STAR Blog Hop & HOME Features

This linky party is the perfect place to show off your creativity! Share your blog posts, for a chance to be featured next month!   It's a super short week for us this week with Canada Day on Thursday. With all the news in regards to residential schools and unmarked graves of deceased Indigenous children, many of us are not very excited to celebrate the birth of our country this year. That being said, I hope that any of my Canadian readers have a fun and safe Canada Day and that my American readers enjoy their 4th of July holiday! WELCOME to the June 2021  " You're the Star " Blog Hop! Before we continue onto the Linky party I wanted to share from my blog: These WW friendly Strawberry Sweet Rolls are made with 2-ingredient dough, fresh sweet in season strawberries and topped with luscious lemon cream cheese glaze.  ________________________________________ WELCOME to  HOME feature week of the June 2021  " You're the STAR " blog hop! Strawberry Sweet Rolls with Lemon Cream Cheese Glaze

The perfect summery twist on cinnamon rolls, this 2- ingredient dough is stuffed with fresh picked strawberries and topped with lemony cream cheese glaze. Jump to Recipe As I mentioned in a previous post, the kids and I went strawberry picking and came home with 12 litres of strawberries. I used 4 litres to make some jam, 4 more litres for baking and we enjoyed 4 litres over the course of the week. The kids snacked on fresh strawberries while participating in online learning, and I topped my overnight oats with berries every morning. We just couldn't get enough of the sweet juicy berries! While we enjoyed the Hawaiian Strawberry Tart , I posted last week, I wanted to use the strawberries in something more Weight Watchers friendly. The great part of being a foodie and being on WW is the creativity I use, to make low point desserts that I can enjoy and not feel deprived. These fresh strawberry sweet rolls are the perfect example. Many people LOVE cinnamon rolls, but have you ever had

Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps- Weight Watchers Friendly

Tender ground chicken is bursting with sweet and savoury flavours of the Orient. Topped with crisp Asian slaw and spicy Asian cucumber, this is a fantastic and filling low carb meal. Jump to Recipe Summer is here and with the warmer weather, my food tastes have changed. I crave lighter meals, that aren't carb heavy. Things like salads, grilled chicken wraps, kabobs and delicious lettuce wraps. As I continue on my Weight Watchers journey, I am learning how to make healthier versions of foods I love and still enjoying some not so healthy foods as well. It's all about balance and I love that Weight Watchers gives me the tools I need to eat a balanced diet.  I've learned that if 95% of my diet is healthy food and the occasional 5% is indulgent foods, I do not feel deprived. I am never hungry and never short on calories, thanks to a large list of 0 point foods to choose from. I'm not really a calorie counter (who the heck has time for that?), so tracking my foods using my d

Sundried Tomato Asiago Quick Bread- Sally's Baking Challenge

This savoury quick bread is made without yeast and is a snap to put together. Packed full of delicious sweet sundried tomato flavour and salty asiago cheese; this is the perfect addition to a brunch, or a nice hearty soup. Jump to Recipe Sunday was Fathers Day here in Canada and we celebrated with my SO's family. It also happened to be the Italy VS Wales game for the Euro Cup, so we all got together to watch. Since the game started at noon, I decided to bring the fixings for a quick Sunday brunch. I baked this gorgeous quick bread before leaving and brought everything needed to make a crustless quiche and breakfast links.  Brunch was so delicious, but the star was definitely this quick bread. Beautifully fluffy with a flaky exterior, this bread is studded with sweet sundried tomato pieces and salty asiago cheese. Everyone really enjoyed this flavourful bread and my SO's Nana even took some home. It was the perfect pairing to my caramelized onion and mushroom crustless quiche a

You're the STAR Blog Hop & FAMILY Features

This linky party is the perfect place to show off your creativity! Share your blog posts, for a chance to be featured next month!   Sorry I'm a little late today. Yesterday was Fathers Day and we spent the day with my SO's family, trying to make his day a little more special. Though he is not the father of my children, he has been such a big part in their lives over the last 3 yrs, when their own father could not find the strength to. I am thankful for his help in guiding my children to becoming hard working, caring and respectful parts of society. Welcome to week#3 of the June 2021 " You're the Star " Blog Hop! Before we continue onto the Linky party I wanted to share this post from my blog: With the arrival of strawberry season, I've been busy in the kitchen. I found the recipe for this Hawaiian Strawberry Tart at the farm-stand checkout and decided to make it. It tastes fresh and delicious, perfect for Canada Day, or 4th of July (just add some

Hawaiian Strawberry Tart- Perfect for Canada Day!

Luscious lime cream cheese filling is nestled into a tender macadamian/coconut crust. Giving this beautiful strawberry tart a tropical feel. A wonderful summer dessert! Jump to Recipe Strawberry season has started here in Ontario. The kids and I have went to pick a few baskets already. We didn't get as much as previous years, since we are growing strawberries in our garden. The berries were big, ripe and so sweet. It took us no time at all to pick our baskets.  Strawberry picking kicks off summer for me and it is a tradition I've brought over from my childhood. I would go picking with my mom, every summer and remember going on a few picking excursions with my grandmother and aunts. That is one of my favourite strawberry picking memories. All of us on the wagon going to the field, laughing and having fun.  I really enjoy heading to the farm to pick our berries, as it gives me a chance to also check out their other produce readily available. You can bet I always come home with su
