2 Ingredient Bagels- Weight Watchers Bagels

 Self rising flour and fat free Greek yogurt is all you need to make these 2 ingredient bagels. Top this popular Weight Watchers dough recipe anyway you like, and enjoy your 3 point bagels!

Weight Watchers Bagels

It's been 4 weeks since I embarked on my Weight Watchers journey. I really wasn't sure how I would do trying this program, or if I could even do it. As someone with Crohn's Disease, I've never been able to eat a large amount of fruits and veggies. For the past 28 yrs, I've been avoiding eating too much fruit, veggies and nuts. Add in an ostomy, and it's double jeopardy. There are so many times when I think I've eaten well during the day, only to be bed ridden the next day, in excruciating pain. Hence my reluctance at doing the program.

That being said, I decided to try it for 1 month free of charge thanks to an invite from my SO's mom. The first week was tough. I was placed in the blue group, which focuses a lot on fruits and veggies being 0 points. By the 5th day, I was bed ridden and in pain, so I decided to look into the other group colours available. I then decided to change to the purple group. In the purple group, certain carbs are zero points, which gives me a break from all the fruit and vegetables. I could eat potatoes, whole wheat pasta, brown rice Ramen and brown rice, without counting points.

I have to say that in the 3 weeks since switching, I've only had one day where I did not feel well, due to my fresh fruit and veg intake. An absolute win for me. The bonus is, that I've also lost 16 lbs, since beginning the program 4 weeks ago! I am amazed at how much weight I dropped by switching my eating habits, and how much better I feel. I am energized, my mood has improved, and my body no longer aches 24 hrs/day. 

Being on WW has given me the tools to eat more healthily and to be more mindful of what I am eating. They focus on whole foods, and steer you away from processed foods. As much as I am loving it, I am missing a few things- like BAGELS!

In one of the FB groups I joined, the ladies were talking about these 2 Ingredient bagels, that were only 3 points. Now I have been avoiding bagels like the plague because they are about 8 or 9 points each, and with only 16 points for my day, bagels were not worth it. So when I heard of low point bagels, I was all in. These bagels are made with 2 ingredients- self rising flour and fat free Greek yogurt.

I know you guys are thinking flour and yogurt? I was too....until I made these little beauties! The dough is so soft and supple and these bagels are only baked, rather than boiled and baked. Once baked they are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and when you toast them up, they are even better! I've enjoyed several of these bagels with cream cheese, for breakfast, or as a yummy snack.

How do I make 2 Ingredient bagels?

The recipe is very simple. It is 1 cup of self rising flour, to 1 cup of 0% Greek yogurt; that's it. Now you could flavour these bagels anyway you like. I added dehydrated onion to mine and then topped them with Everything bagel seasoning. Depending on your add-ins, these bagels are only 3 Smart Points on the WW program.

Once the dough is made and kneaded, you separate it into 8 equal pieces. Roll the dough into a ball and insert your thumb in the center of the dough. Gently pull the dough, making the hole in the center larger. Place shaped dough on a baking sheet and brush with egg wash. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or Everything bagel seasoning and bake until dark golden brown.

What if I don't have self rising flour?

Making your own self rising flour is super simple. You would mix 2 cups of all purpose flour, with 1 Tbs baking powder and 1 tsp salt.

How do I store my 2 Ingredient Bagels?

These bagels are amazing right out of the oven. If you make a larger batch to have them on had for the week, you could store them in a zip top bag on the counter for about 24 hrs. Refrigerated bagels will stay fresh for about 3-4 days. Alternatively you can freeze them, by wrapping them separately and placing them in a zip top bag. Simply thaw the bagels before cutting and toasting.


Equipement needed to make this recipe

  • mixing bowl
  • small bowl
  • fork or a small whisk
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • wooden spoon
  • pastry brush
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
2 Ingredient Bagels- Weight Watchers Bagels

2 C all self rising flour
2 C 0% fat free Greek yogurt
2 tsp dehydrated onion (optional)
1 egg
1 Tbs water
sesame seeds, poppy seeds or everything bagel seasoning

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, combine the self rising flour, yogurt and dehydrated onion (optional). Mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough is formed. Pour dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead dough until smooth and elastic; about 3-5 minutes.

Cut dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Press your thumb in the center of the ball, and gently pull dough into a uniform ring. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tbs water. Brush the egg wash onto each bagel and sprinkle with desired toppings. Bake for 30 minutes, until the tops turn a deep golden brown.

Sam & Cat Sloppy Waffles

 A nod to the popular preteen TV show Sam & Cat, these s loppy waffles pair classic sloppy joes with crisp waffles. Years ago, my daughter fell in love with a kids show called Sam and Cat. This show melds two shows the kids use to watch together. It stars Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) from iCarly and Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande) from Victorious. It's a witty and fun show and the kids loved the hijinks these two girls get into every week. In one particular episode, they get stuck inside a secret room, they find in their apartment (which use to be Cat's Nonna's before she moved to Elderly Acres). While they are stuck in the secret room, Cat mentions her idea of Sloppy Waffles, which pairs waffles and sloppy joes.
