Cinnamon Roll Waffles

This amazing waffle recipe is super simple, with the use of canned cinnamon rolls. Perfect for older kids to prepare, these delicious cinnamon rolls topped with a tangy cream cheese glaze would be the perfect breakfast in bed, for mom on Mother's Day.

Canned cinnamon rolls? Yep, you totally read that right. This recipe could be made with one convenient ingredient; a can of cinnamon rolls! Isn't that insane?

Not only is it crazy, it's also the perfect recipe for kiddos to prepare for Moms on Mother's Day. There is no mixing of the batter, no overfilling the waffle iron, resulting on batter overflowing all over the counter. This is totally breakfast made easy!

I can't remember when I first stumbled upon this recipe, on Pinterest. I think it was back in 2012, when my kids were still little.

Back then I was all about simple breakfasts, since I was usually cooking and chasing kids all over the house. So when I found a recipe that was as easy as putting canned cinnamon rolls into my waffle iron, I was all over it! Plus the rolls already come with a ready to use glaze, so that's a total bonus!!

When these waffles cook up, they come out looking super cute. These smaller waffles have all the delicious flavours of cinnamon rolls, a soft and tender inside, and crispy outside; with a minimal amount of work. No oven, no pan, minimal clean up. All total wins in my book!

Since they only require the use of a waffle iron, these waffles are a wonderful breakfast idea for kids to treat Mom on mother's day. Whether it's with the help of Dad, or a solo mission for older children, you can bet any Mom would be happy to be treated to these waffles any time of the year!

If you're feeling adventurous, you can even jazz up the glaze that comes with the cinnamon rolls, by adding 4 oz of cream cheese, a few table spoons of maple syrup, 1/3 C powdered sugar and 1/4 C of your favourite milk (sugar free vanilla almond milk works perfectly).

My kids devour these babies in no time flat, so if you are planning on feeding more than 2 growing teenagers, I suggest using more than one can of cinnamon rolls. Pair them with fresh fruit and your favourite breakfast meat and you have a lovely, insanely delicious and simple meal perfect for any occasion, or even a lazy weekend.

Equipment needed for this recipe

  • waffle iron
  • tongs
  • bowl (if you plan on jazzing up the glaze)
  • whisk
Cinnamon Roll Waffles

1 can cinnamon rolls with frosting
non stick cooking spray

Preheat your waffle iron and spray grates generously with oil/cooking spray.

Separate cinnamon rolls out of the can. Place one cinnamon roll onto each preheated grate and close waffle iron.

Cook for about 3 minutes, depending on what temperature your waffle iron works at; mine only has one heat setting so they were done in about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes.

Remove from waffle iron; using tongs

Place frosting in a pipping bag, or zip top bag (with a small hole snipped from one corner) and drizzle waffles with frosting.

If you'd like to jazz up your frosting

4 oz softened cream cheese
2 Tbs maple syrup or honey
1/3 C powdered sugar
1/4 C milk of choice

In a bowl, whisk the cream cheese until smooth.

Add in the frosting that accompanies the cinnamon rolls, maple syrup, and milk. Whisk well to incorporate all ingredients and mixture is smooth.

Add in powdered sugar and whisk until a smooth glaze has formed.

Drizzle glaze over cooked waffles.

No Yeast Old Fashion Cinnamon Rolls

These delicious cinnamon sticky rolls have been in my family for over 40 yrs. No yeast is required, so you can whip up a batch of these in no time. Still tender, sticky sweet and delicious! Ever since I can remember Mom would make these as a special treat. It wasn't too often, but every once in a while, we'd come home to these no yeast cinnamon rolls, as an after school snack. Growing up, this is what I thought cinnamon rolls were. I wasn't aware that there was a yeast version of cinnamon rolls. As much as I LOVE the yeast version, this no yeast version seems to make an appearance more frequently here at home.  Since there is no yeast in the dough, it does not need to rise for 30 minutes before being rolled out and baked. When I worked in the retirement home the residents were always excited when I made these cinnamon rolls. They said it reminded them of their childhood. It was amazing seeing how happy a simple recipe could make them. I don't make these very often and ...

50+ Creative Cottage Meal Ideas

When the warm weather hits many of us head to the cottage, to enjoy the sunshine and time near the water. Instead of always packing up burgers and hot dogs, I've rounded up over 50 creative meal ideas for delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Ever since I was little my family always enjoyed a few weeks camping at a near by provincial park, during the summer months. When us kids, became older and moved away, Mom and Dad bought a trailer which remained parked at a location, so we would often go and visit for a few weeks then too. My mom has always been an amazing cook and with her outside kitchen often made our family favourites, even at camp. Now that my SO and his family have a cottage, we are frequently there for most of the summer. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs seem to be our go to, so I wanted to collect new creative meals perfect to make while camping, or at the cottage.  Breakfast Recipes Healthy Banana Milkshake Thick, creamy banana milkshake made without ice cream, dairy, and...

Crockpot Moose Stew

Tender wild moose, is slow cooked all day with potatoes, peas, carrots and herbs, resulting in a hearty and delicious cold weather dish. I can say that I've missed blogging. I've missed creating recipes, taking photographs and sharing them with you. Sometimes life gets in the way, which is the case here. Five years ago my life took a turn I never thought it would. I suddenly found myself as a single mom, who suddenly had to find a job and be both mom and dad to my children. That transition, along with trying to heal a hurt and broken heart, was too much to focus on and things like my blog fell to the wayside. They say things in your life happen for a reason and that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Well let me tell you, I was able to build myself back up and show my children that their mom is a strong and determined woman that will always be there for them, even when she feels defeated. Five years later, I can proudly say that I am doing better then I have in a lon...
