Candied Cinnamon Pecans

 These addictive pecans are coated with a crunchy cinnamon sugar coating. You can't eat just one!


We first tried nuts similar to these, years ago when visiting the kid's grandmother in Western NY. Since then I've been seeing them everywhere. At sporting events, at the mall, in Cabela's (Canada's version of Bass Pro Shops). I don't make these often, because nuts are so expensive, but 3 yrs ago I decided to make some to add to my SO's mom's Christmas basket. I had purchased her favourite wine and had added crackers, caramel corn, and these pecans to the basket. It was one of her favourite gifts that year!

My kids go crazy for these, and when I bring them to family gatherings they disappear quickly. I think it is the salty, sweet, crunch combo. I mean who could resist it? These are super simple and almost fool proof to make. However, they are so spectacular your guests will be blown away and amazed that they are homemade. Our favourites are Pecans, but you can use your favourite type of nut!

Candied Cinnamon Pecans

1 lb pecan halves
1 egg white
1 Tbs water
1 tsp vanilla
1 C white sugar
1.5 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp pink sea salt

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).

In a small bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon and sea salt and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg white, water and vanilla; until frothy. Add the pecan halves and mix to coat with egg white mixture. Add in the sugar mixture and mix well, to ensure all the nuts are evenly coated.

Spread out evenly, in a single layer, onto 1-2 baking sheets.

Bake in a preheated oven, for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

Let cook completely before packaging.

  3. I've done candied walnuts before but I haven't tried pecans. This looks delicious, I'll have to try it. Perfect for the holidays.
