Sunday Meal Plan Oct 25- Oct 31 #Blogtober

Meal Planning is a great way to save time and money, every week!

October just flew by, I can't believe Halloween is on Saturday. I'm not sure if the kids will be going out or not. My daughter would like to, but doesn't have a costume and doesn't like any of my costume suggestions. I guess Mommy's costumes aren't cool enough. I offered her my scarecrow costume and my Sally costume, and received a resounding NO to both of them. Unless she can find something she already has, she may just have to stay home. I did buy some of our favourite candy, so it's not like she'll miss out.

Friday night we had a pretty big line of storms come through. We had to hang out in the basement for an hour or so, just to be safe. Mother nature had to give us one last good show, before the snow comes. Thankfully we are all safe.

We don't have much on the agenda this week, other than decorating the yard, for Halloween. Every year we seem to get it done later and later, due to weather. The storms Friday put a damper on our plans to decorate. It was the perfect day for it, until the storms came through, LOL.

Here is my meal plan for the week

  • Peameal Bacon Sandwiches, with Broccoli Slaw
  • Baked Ham, with mashed potatoes, corn and homemade bread
  • Fried ham (using leftovers), potato pancakes and a salad
  • pancakes with fresh fruit
  • sweet potato hash, with eggs and toast
  • Perogies with onions and bacon or ham
  • Leftovers (clean out the fridge)
I'm sharing my meal plan over at OrgJunkie.com's Menu Plan Monday

I originally saw versions of this recipe on Pinterest and it had my tummy rumbling so hard, that I knew I had to make it. I had chicken in the freezer, so decided to make this chicken on a day where I would be at school all day. Nothing like walking into the most amazing smell, when you get home from a busy day of work!  I love that this recipe is so simple, yet it is out of this world delicious. Sweet and savory combine, to coat this tender chicken. It literally fell apart as I tried to remove it from the crock pot. Once tossed with the thickened glaze, I served it with cooked rice/fried rice and some fresh snap peas. It was an amazingly fantastic crock pot meal, that I will be making again and again.  Crockpot Brown

Lemon Crinkle Cookies

These Lemon Crinkle Cookies are deliciously tart, not too sweet, and pillow-y soft.  I have so many wonderful holiday baking memories. It wasn't until I was older, that Mom actually let me help her with all the tons of baking she did. When I was little, I'd sit and watch her work, fascinated at how easy she made it look. When I moved out on my own, my holiday baking tradition became one of re creating the desserts of my childhood. I went many years not being able to spend Christmas with my family, so my tradition was a way to feel closer to my them. After my children were born, I had wonderful plans for holiday traditions. Baking cookies, while the snow was gently falling outside. My children, prim and proper, not making a single mess, decorating cookies until they looked like works of art. Sounds pleasant, doesn't it? My wake up call came when my son was two. The cookie dough had been chilled and we were set to roll, cut and decorate our cookies. That's when I almost

Bacon-Mozzarella Accordion Garlic Bread

A fresh baguette is stuffed with bacon, cheese and garlic butter, for an addictive appetizer. When we used to go out to eat, if it is on the menu, we would order a bruschetta type accordion bread. I thought I could make an awesome garlic bread, using the same concept, but adding ingredients that we totally love. We often like to top leftover garlic bread with mozzarella cheese, to make it seem new again, so I wanted to incorporate that between the garlicky slices or baguette. And we all know how AWESOME bacon is right?? This is a super simple, yet deliciously impressive appetizer. I'm sure your guests would all Oooh and Ahhh over the ooey gooey bread with bacon. They would be totally CRAZY if they didn't!! The kids really loved this too. The inside was soft and garlicky, full of cheese, bacon and nice fresh green onion. The outside was crispy and buttery.
